Symptoms can range from mild discomfort to severe pain up. If you have a toothache, it is possible to have it worse by hot, cold or sweet foods reaching teeth. Or sometimes it can hurt the blue.
Possible causes:
- tooth decay
- dental abscess (usually caused by a deep dental caries )
- periodontal abscess
- a wisdom tooth eruption
- a fractured tooth
- a dying nerve ( often under a root or as a crown )
- an irritated nerve caused by a deep fillings or a crown
- a filling or a crown leaky
- a cavity under a crown or filling
- trauma (usually by accident )
- sinus infection ( sinusitis maxillary )
- gnashing of teeth ( bruxism )
- failed endodontic treatment (requires re – treatment)
Other causes: reversible inflammation of the nerve, the pain radiated sensitivity to certain foods.

When you have a toothache, you should first visit the dentist frequently to relieve it.
What can be done for it in practice?
- repair decayed tooth structure with a filling or a crown
- is an endodontic treatment , if considered dead nerve is inflamed or irreversible
- extracted tooth if unrecoverable
- prescribing antibiotics where appropriate
- prescribing painkillers
If you have pain, do not hesitate to call the dentist. The sooner you do this, so it’s easier to treat the problem and made the pain go away.
