Dental caries teeth are infections caused by bacteria and can affect both the enamel (the outer shell of the tooth) and dentin (inside the tooth). Cavities are formed by consumption of foods that contain carbohydrates, such as bread, cereals, milk, mineral water, fruit and sweets.
We have bacteria in the mouth that make up plaque through fermentation, convert sugar into acid from these foods. It is estimated that a glucose molecule (i.e. sugar) with two molecules of acid fermentation result. Normally, the pH of our mouth is 6.2 to 7.
After eating, especially when we eat these foods into sugars, the pH drops to 5.5 times the acid begins to attack the enamel format. It thus forms a hole in tooth enamel hole that extends and reaches the dentin, and pulp of the tooth and cause pain.
Cavities are formed most often in grooves and fissures on the surface of premolars and molars, the smooth surfaces of the teeth and their roots when we are dealing with associated diseases such as gum disease causing gum recession and penetration of the acid tooth root.
In the first phase of formation of caries no obvious symptoms, but your dentist can observe the emergence of a decay time. If you do not arrive on time and experience these symptoms dentist is likely to have caries: tooth sensitivity or pain, pain while chewing food, sensitivity to hot or cold, bad breath, a bad taste in the mouth, cracks or even holes in teeth.
Visiting the dentist every 6 months, impeccable hygiene of the mouth are mandatory things if we want to keep our teeth healthy. No need to wait until the pain becomes unbearable to go to the doctor. It is good for teeth to be checked for cracks and cavities and to be treated. Brushing after every meal, a proper diet and regular checks we will ensure healthy teeth.
